1 String Quintet No. With the addition of Thomas Kakuska on second viola, the ensemble's repartee is spirited and, for the most part, enjoyable. Even so, their depth of feeling is less than compelling, and the group holds back too much until the finale, which is a promising breakthrough. The recording is well balanced and does justice to the Belcea's finely blended sound. 51 No. Allegro, String Quartet in C minor, Op. 1: II. Poco adagio and more. 8 tracks 62:14. String Quartet No. 1 in C minor Op. 1: III. Allegretto molto moderato e comodo. By Johannes Brahms. String Quintet No. 2 in G major, Op. 111: Fourth movement: Vivace ma non troppo presto. By Johannes BrahmsBelcea Quartet & Thomas Kakuska. 8 Songs, 1 Hour, 2 Minutes. Released January 12, 2009. Allegro, String Quintet No. 2 In G , I. Allegro Non Troppo, Ma Con Brio, II. Adagio, III. Un Poco Allegretto, IV. Vivace Ma Non Troppo Presto. 1 In C Minor, Op. The Belcea Quartet is a string quartet, formed in 1994, under the leadership of violinist Corina Belcea. The quartet was formed while its members were studying at the Royal College of Music in London. Whilst there, they were coached by the Chilingirian Quartet. They subsequently studied with the Alban Berg Quartet at Cologne. The quartet was one of the first groups to participate in the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme, from 1999 to 2001. They made their Carnegie Hall debut in 2000 as part of. 3 in B-Flat Major, Op. 67: III. Agitato Allegretto non troppo, 08:19. 1 in C Minor, Op. 1: IV. Allegro, 06:02. 2 in A Minor, Op. 2: II. Andante, 09:19. Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op. 34: II. Andante, un poco adagio, 08:34. 2: III. Quasi minuetto, moderato, 05:40. 34: III. Scherzo Allegro, 07:26. 2: IV. Finale Allegro non assai, 07:41. The Belcea Quartet I think presents a remarkable performance of the 1st quartet, in my memory, the best I have heard. It is dramatic, expressive and involved. I was especially impressed by the performance by front woman Corina Belcea. This quartet relies particularly intensively on the performance by the 1st violin and Corina is simply put great: emotional, rhythmically nuanced, with excellent yet delicate projection above the ensemble. The Op. 111 quintet is I believe a less impressive composition than the quartet, but it's still a major Brahms work and holds many great moments. recording of: String Quartet no. 1 in C minor, op. 51 no. More than twelve years after its initial incursion into the music of Brahms, the Belcea Quartet now presents the eagerly awaited complete recording of his string quartets. A powerful style and a sense of musical architecture are the two qualities most often attributed to the Belcea, which is now one of the top international quartets. And those characteristics blossom to the full in Brahms. For the Piano Quintet, its members are joined by Till Fellner
