Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей Herbie Hunters is the twelfth studio album by the American pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, released October 13, 1973, on Columbia Records. Head Hunters was a pivotal point in Herbie Hancock's career, bringing him into the vanguard of jazz fusion. Hancock had pushed avant-garde boundaries on his own albums and with Miles Davis, but he had never devoted himself to the groove as he did on Head Hunters. Drawing heavily from Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield, and James Brown, Hancock developed deeply funky, even gritty, rhythms over which he soloed on electric synthesizers, bringing the instrument to the forefront in jazz. Today, we revisit Herbie Hancocks jazz-funk masterpiece, a celebration of all that is modern and ancient. In 1973, Herbie Hancock, a virtuosic jazz dissident, stomped out an entire history of sound when he walked out a bassline on a modular synthesizer. This was not someones upright acoustic bass played with calloused fingers, it was preprogrammed on a circuit board obscured inside a small wooden box, amplified by some hidden electrical process. And it wasnt one bassline crawling out of the speakers, it was two, dubbed on top of each other, split across the stereo field, blasphemed onto what was ostensibly a jazz recording in post-production. Bedy
Herbie Hancock at his almost best (Only "Sextant" is better). Don't know why it's here -it has only synthesizer sounds, but doesn't seem to be electronic. However, "Watermelon Man" is a tribal funk groove that has it. And the other 3 tracks are good, either. Always remember: it's more jazz than funk or anything else.
