Musikalbum

The Ghosts of Highway 20 is the twelfth studio album by American country music singer Lucinda Williams. The album was released on February 5, 2016, by Highway 20 Records. All songs are written or co-written by Williams, except Factory, written by Bruce Springsteen. Bitter Memory was performed by Connie Britton as her character Rayna Jaymes on the TV series Nashville. Calling her own shots seems to agree with Lucinda Williams. While the singersongwriter has long had a reputation for taking her time between albums, she's back with another double-disc set, The Ghosts of Highway 20, just a year-and-a-half later. She launched her own label with Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone in the fall of 2014. Формируйте собственную коллекцию. Songs in album Lucinda Williams - The Ghosts Of Highway 20 2016. Will Hermes. With blowsy, parched vocals, languorous tempos, straggly melodies and flyaway guitar lines, Lucinda Williams 12th album feels a little like an alt-country picture of Dorian Gray. You could also call it a portrait of the artist as an older woman: time-scarred, unapologetic, but still potent. Yeah, its literary yeah, its the polar opposite of cosmetic-surgery pop. As such, its not for everyone. But its jazzy rawness represents a high point of emotional craft in a career defined by it. Title: The Ghosts of Highway 20 2017. The original story came all at once after hearing the title of the Lucinda Williams album, the Ghosts of Highway 20, on a dark night-time drive. The first draft of the script was completed later the same night. producing enough quality material to follow last years double-album Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone with another double-album of equivalent potency. The songs on The Ghosts of Highway 20 have the unerring ring of truth about them, shining glimmers of light into dark and unpalatable corners of life. Read full review. Lucinda Williamss second double album in two years is another fruitful collaboration with soundscaping guitarists Greg Leisz and Bill Frissell. But theres a noticeable shift between this album and the last, and not just because The Ghosts of Highway 20 is a concept album while 2014s Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone only loosely organized around a poem by Williamss late father is not. The difference is in the songs, which return Williams to an expressively melancholic mode most thought shed abandoned since finding the most steady romantic partner of her life in producer Tom Overby. The thread of Highway 20 connects those songs, mirroring the winding route of the road itself, a street that cleaves close to Williams childhood homes, the final resting place of her mother, the sites where signposts of her formative years are forever planted. To my mind 'The Ghosts of Highway 20' should be regarded as Lucinda's best album to date. The languorous sound of her voice, together with the rythmic reverberative guitars adds depth to the disconsolate lyrics that is both heartbreaking and yet strangely consoling. Definitely a masterpiece
