Matt Berninger The National In a world where instant gratification is the norm, patience has become a rare commodity. The duo of Zoe Randell and Steve Hassett reach new heights on their second album, Passerby, which is their first release for Seattles Sub Pop Records. They count Joe Boyd producer of Nick Drake and Fairport Convention as a fan, and its easy to hear why as Randell hits impossible yet transcendent notes on the title track. Without A Face the title track to Lulucs second album-and their Sub Pop debut-Zoë Randell laments what she calls the passerby life. The song recounts several friends who have come and gone, some human and some not: a bearded guy named Mike Brown, an old man she knew as Mr. Finnegan, a young dying baby lamb that she fed by hand, a tiny Christmas Island bird with a broken wing. Excellent music and beautiful vinyl, but the record does not sound good at all. The problem is not with the master recording as the CD sounds considerably better.
Fantastic looking record however on A5 and B1 I get a weird fuzzy noise and this really ruins it for me. Anybody else have such issues?
I experienced the exact same problem. Too bad, it's such a terrific album.
If the fuzzy noise you're referring to sounds like distortion, I have the same problem. Definitely takes away from the experience. Amazing album though!
