This is a truly stunning compilation of great jazz classics by obscure bands with the exception of those of Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, and Bennie Moten all of which deserve to be better-known. Two of the bands, namely Louis Dumaine's Jazzola Eight and Sam Morgan's Jazz Band, were recorded in New Orleans, and Morton, Oliver and Frankie Franko, had originated from that city.
