Of course, there are numerous other live renditions of this material, starting with Yessongs, and these performances, while competent, are not on a par with either the studio originals or earlier recorded concerts. While ersatz bands like this are perfectly capable of pleasing nostalgic concert fans, they may not be well advised to issue recordings of their efforts that, like this one, suffer in comparison to previous efforts. They have a hugely successful and indelible catalogue of music with hit albums such as DRAMA, FRAGILE, CLOSE TO THE EDGE and 90125 and classic songs like Roundabout, a seminal hit which consistently appears on the best songs of all-time lists, and the groups 1 hit Owner of a Lonely Heart , taken from the YES album 90125, w which would see. Fractionally speaking, 'Live From Lyon' is more un-Yes than Yes, with three members- including vocalist Benoit David- coming in to replace. Musically however, there is little truly lost in fact, there are many times throughout the album where I think it is the real band playing, and I think other listeners will run into this as well. Live from Lyon is a two-CD live album that contains fourteen tracks that give us more than two hours of good music, in a trip to Yes discography, taking tracks from the 70s and 80s, and though I love the most of the songs here, I would have really loved to have at least a couple of passages of the

Six months after Yes recorded "Fly From Here" with new singer Benoit David, Yes released this double live CD plus a DVD. There is no material from "Fly From Here" on the double live CD Live from Lyon. I think it makes no sense to release an album of live material if there is nothing new in a bands repertoire. Having a new singer whose only interest seemed to be copying Jon Anderson's voice isn't a noteworthy event in my opinion, especially since the singer came out of nowhere with no history of recording progressive rock anything with anyone anyway. He can sing. In a way. If you like the sound of someone copying Jon Anderson (which is something that thankfully didn't happen on the Yes album Drama way back in 1980 when Jon Anderson took a hiatus from Yes) The musicianship on LIL is just OK-Steve Howe's guitar work is a bit hit/miss in places for me-like on the Yes classic "Yours is No Disgrace" (which also seemed a little slow) but generally Chris Squire & Allan White's playing sounded as good as ever...I would think this is primarily aimed at the large number of long time Yes fans rather than it being anything that will get 'new recruits.' The lack of new material is a bit of a drag-especially considering two new people in the band (Oliver Wakeman also filled in for his famous Dad: Rick Wakemen) Great CD packaging-and of course its nice to see some more great album artwork by longtime Yes cover art person Roger Dean. I would only give this effort a six out of ten from a musical perspective-after all, Yes music is what Yes has been doing for over three decades-also having new person Oliver Wakeman still isn't reason enough for it being kind of an ordinary effort..hence I think its for diehard fans only.
